Pass-Through Chamber Manufacturer

Pass-Through Chamber Manufacturer

Cleanroom pass-through chambers designed, fabricated, and finished in our Ocean, New Jersey facility. Built to your wall opening — not to the nearest catalog size.

Atmos-Tech has manufactured cleanroom equipment since 1971. Every pass-through chamber we ship is sheared, formed, welded, and polished in our own shop, with the interlocks, filtration, and controls specified to your room.

Built in our shop, not sourced

Most companies selling cleanroom pass-throughs are assembling or reselling units built elsewhere. Atmos-Tech is a manufacturer. Raw stainless and steel come into our Ocean, NJ facility and leave as finished chambers.
That means:

  • Shearing, forming, and welding in-house. We cut the material to your dimensions rather than quoting you the closest stock size.
  • Polishing and finishing in-house. Weld quality and surface finish are controlled by the people who did the welding, not inspected on arrival from a supplier.
  • UL508A certified panel shop on site. Interlock controls and any monitoring package are designed and built alongside the chamber, not bolted on afterward.
  • Domestic lead times. No ocean freight, no customs, no six-week surprise on a project schedule.

When a dimension changes mid-project, and on retrofits it usually does, we change it on the shop floor.

Pass-through configurations we build

Configuration Typical application
Passive (non-ventilated) Material transfer between rooms of the same classification
HEPA-filtered (active) Transfer into a higher-classification space; particulate reduction during transfer
Cart / floor-level Large-format transfer, carts, drums, equipment
Wall-mounted flush Retrofit into an existing wall opening, flush on both faces
Freestanding Softwall rooms and installations without a structural wall

Options across all configurations:

  • Material: 304 stainless, 316L stainless, powder-coated steel
  • Interlocks: mechanical, electrical, or both
  • Filtration: Atmos-Aire HEPA or ULPA, scan-tested in our own facility
  • Controls: status indication, alarms, timers, BMS-ready

Interior configuration and finish are built to the application. Tell us what the process requires and we will quote it.

Custom built to your opening

On retrofits, where the wall already exists and the old unit’s footprint is fixed, the ability to build to your opening matters. It matters again on new construction, where the architect drew the opening before anyone selected a pass-through. Either way, fabricating to the dimension is the same work for us as fabricating to a standard size.

When you send dimensions (width, height, depth, wall thickness) and the classification on each side, we will quote the configuration that fits.

The filter inside is ours too

On HEPA-filtered pass-throughs, the filter is an Atmos-Tech HEPA or ULPA built in the same facility as the chamber. Every filter is individually scan-tested after manufacture, and ships with its own test documentation.

That is unusual. Most pass-through suppliers buy filters from a filtration company and install them. When a filter fails certification in the field, the chamber manufacturer and the filter manufacturer point at each other. Here, there is one manufacturer, one QC system, and one set of documentation.

Where our pass-throughs are installed

Pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing · medical device production · semiconductor and microelectronics · optics and precision assembly · defense and industrial manufacturing · food and beverage production

Each of these environments puts different demands on a transfer chamber: washdown chemistry, particulate limits, interlock logic, hazardous-location ratings. We build to the requirement rather than to a general-purpose spec.

Why specifiers choose Atmos-Tech

Since 1971: Fifty-five years manufacturing cleanroom equipment in the United States.

Complete in-house fabrication: Shearing, forming, welding, polishing, painting all under one roof in Ocean, NJ.

UL508A certified panel shop: Interlock and monitoring controls engineered and built with the equipment.

Scan-tested filtration: Every Atmos-Tech HEPA and ULPA filter individually tested, with documentation.

Pass-through chamber questions

Can you build a pass-through to a non-standard size?

Yes. Custom dimensions are routine — we fabricate from raw material, so building to your opening is standard practice rather than a special order.

What is the difference between a passive and an active pass-through?

A passive chamber is an enclosed transfer box with no air supply. An active chamber has HEPA or ULPA filtration and supplies filtered air during transfer, reducing particulate carried between spaces. Active units are typical when transferring into a higher-classification room.

Do I need mechanical or electrical interlocks?

Mechanical interlocks physically prevent both sides of the chamber from being opened at the same time. Electrical interlocks add status indication, alarms, timers, and can tie into a monitoring system. Many regulated environments specify both. Our UL508A panel shop builds either.

What stainless grade should I specify?

304 is standard for most cleanroom applications. 316L is specified where chloride exposure or aggressive cleaning chemistry is involved. We build both.

What is the lead time?

Lead times depend on configuration and current shop load. Because we fabricate domestically, custom units do not carry the import transit and customs delay that offshore-sourced equipment does. Contact us for current availability on your configuration.

Do you provide submittals and CAD files?

Yes. Submittal packages and drawings are available for specification and approval. Contractors and MEP firms can request a full package.
